Room 8 Team Blog

A big congratulations to Mac and Izack who both competed in the Weetbix Tryathon on Sunday.  They both enjoyed telling the Room 8 children about the race and showing the medal they received at the finish line.  Well done boys.

Thank you Brooklyn for bringing your pet mouse - Whiskers, into Room 8 today for a visit.  He was very well behaved in his cage at the back of the room but we think he was a little tired as he slept in his house for most of the day. The children really enjoyed watching him running around on his wheel and getting to pat him when Brooklyn carried him around the circle.  He is very cute!

Congratulations Room 8.  You have half filled our Warm Fuzzy jar already! When the whole class follow instructions and demonstrate the School Values, 1 or more Warm Fuzzies are placed into the jar.  When the jar is half full, the class receive a treat (that they vote on) and the same thing will happen when the jar is completely full In Week 3, we had already half filled the Jar!  Wow!  Top effort Room 8. They choose for their reward - a chippie, popcorn and movie party on Friday afternoon.  The Room 8 children watching 'Horrid Henry"  Yum - chippies and popcorn for everyone.

Ruby bought in a collection of 18 live grasshoppers for the Room 8 children to look at on Wednesday. She found them on the bricks of her house and put them in a safe, plastic cage which had holes in so that they could breathe.  Luckily the holes were not  big enough for them to escape out of.  She made sure the grasshoppers had plenty of sticks to climb and plants to eat.  Thanks Ruby for sharing them with us.

Congratulations to the following students who had their names drawn out at our first Whole School Assembly for the Awhi Draw. When our students show the school values of Care, Share, Learn and Grow , they are given an Awhi.  This Awhi gives them House Points and also puts them in a class and whole school draw for prizes and experiences. Awhi mai awhi atu - What we give out, we get back! Congratulations to Ben, Ella, Ayla, Madison and Devi (absent).  Their choice of prizes included device time, walking Benji the school dog, choosing from Mrs Elley's Treasure box and being Kevin's helper.  Well done!

Welcome to Room 8 and to the new school year.  We have had a wonderful start to the year and are settling down into our routines and getting to know each other.   We were lucky to welcome 4 new students to Belfast School.  A special welcome to Ayla, Brooklyn, Izack and Yoona (an International student from Korea). (We have two students absent from this class photo)
